A Memorial Service for Polly Brown, 86, of Memphis, TX, will be held at 1:30 PM on Monday, April 23, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church in Memphis, TX, with Rev. Gary Boles officiating. The family will hold a private burial service. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Brown passed away on Friday, April 20, 2007 in Memphis, TX. She was born on April 7, 1921 in Sulpher Springs, TX to the late Mr. Fred Allen Kerr and Mrs. Lillian (Mills) Kerr. She spent some of her childhood in Childress, TX and graduated from Childress High School. She married Lee Brown on December 26, 1938 in Hollis, OK. He preceded her in death on April 10, 2006. Polly was a member of the Memphis First United Methodist Church, very active in both local and district endeavors. She worked with Methodist youth many years. She was a member of the 86'ers Quilting Club, two bridge clubs and the Red River Red Hatters. Polly also participated in reading programs at Stephen F. Austin school and was a former member of the Hall County Hospital Auxilliary. She was a housewife. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Fredna Bowman on January 23, 2006; and two sisters, Miriam Kerr and Connie Swain. She is survived by one son, Randy Brown and his wife, Diane, of Lubbock, TX; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Bobby Kerr of Athens, TX; and one sister, Tommy Roark of Panhandle, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church, 121 N. 8th, Memphis, TX 79245 or your favorite charity.
