Rosary services for Mr. Jose S. Lopez, 87, of Memphis, TX will be at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2011 at Hughs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Robert G. Blum, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, TX. Mr. Lopez passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011 in Memphis, TX. Jose was born March 20, 1924 in Beeville, TX to the late Mr. Luis Lopez and Mrs. Maria (Gonzalez) Lopez. He married Elijia Rodriguez on March 23, 1946 in Bishop, TX. They moved to Memphis, TX in the 1980’s from California. Jose was a farmer and a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his son, Joe Lopez Jr., one brother and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Elijia Lopez of Memphis, TX; three daughters, Olga Garcia and husband Frank and Mary Gonzalez and husband Robert all of Memphis, TX; Gloria Lomile and husband Raul of Fresno, CA; two brothers, Victor Lopez of Pampa, TX; Francisco Lopez of Mexico; one sister, Otivia Gonzales of Mexico; 22 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
