Services for Janice Kendall, 70, of Canadian, TX will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Danny Sanders, officiating and Rev. Lewis Holland, assisting. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Janice passed away Monday, October 10, 2011 in Amarillo, TX. Janice was born November 8, 1940 in Canadian, TX to the late Mr. Andrew Earl “Bob” Hardin and Mrs. Irene (Fuson) Hardin. She was a 1959 graduate of Canadian High School. She then went on to receive a degree in education from West Texas State University in Canyon, TX. She married W.C. Kendall on September 7, 1962 in Canadian, TX. He preceded her in death on June 17, 1998. Janice taught school for 5 years in Arriba, CO before moving back to Canadian where she started her career in teaching for the Canadian Independent School District from 1985 to 2003. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she also taught a Sunday school class. She also loved genealogy. She is survived by her son, Bill Kendall and wife Courtney of Canadian, TX; her daughters, Deborah Kendall of Palestine, TX; Penny Brown of Canadian, TX; Roberta Karcher and husband Tim of Jersey City, NJ and five grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church, 520 Main, Canadian, TX or Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 South 4th St., Canadian, TX 79014.
