V.L. "PeeWee" Barnett

Graveside service for V.L. “PeeWee” Barnett, 73, of Memphis, TX, will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 4, 2011 at Fairview Cemetery with Brother Woodrow Richardson, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Mr. Barnett passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in Memphis, TX. PeeWee was born December 23, 1937 in Prospect, TX to the late Mr. Wes Barnett and Mrs. Ellen (Edwards) Barnett. He attended schools in Estelline, TX. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. PeeWee coached Memphis Little League Baseball and the American Legion Baseball teams. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veteran of Foreign Wars. He was also a diesel mechanic. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin and Pete Barnett, his sister, Ruby Cunningham, his daughter-in-law, Rhonda Barnett and his grandson, Michael Harlan. He is survived by three sons, Jerry Barnett and Allan Barnett both of Memphis, TX; Keith Barnett of Amarillo, TX; two brothers, Bill Barnett and wife Bobbie of Stamford, TX; James Barnett and wife Sherrie of Childress, TX; one sister, Joyce Wilson and husband Bryant of Alabama. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
