Services for Doris Perkins, 64, of Higgins, Texas, will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 8, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Higgins, TX with Rev. Clifford Baze, officiating. Burial will follow in the Higgins Cemetery in Higgins, TX under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, Texas. Mrs. Perkins passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2007 in Higgins, Texas. Doris was born April 8, 1943 in Marshall Town, IO to the late Mr. Frank Wheeler and Mrs. Ruby Shelton Wheeler. She attended schools in Unionville, MO. She married Robert “Red” Perkins Sr. on July 26, 1959 in the First Baptist Church in Unionville, MO. He preceded her in death on November 5, 2006. They moved to Higgins, TX in 1974 from Spearman, TX. She was a member of the Docilis Club and the First Baptist Church in Higgins, TX. She was also a homemaker. She is survived by one son, Robert Lee Perkins Jr. and wife Robin of Higgins, TX; two daughters, Deborah Jone Perkins of Higgins, TX; Penny Lou Hughart and husband Jeff of El Reno, OK; her step-mother, Virginia Wheeler of New Windsor, IL; four brothers, Larry Wheeler of Monmouth, IL; David Wheeler, Frank Wheeler and Keith Wheeler all of Seaton, IL; four sisters, Shirley Riley of Rockford, IL; Eileen Randall of New Windsor, IL; Lois VanHoek of Milan, IL; Virginia Tarr of Lake Warren, IL; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
