Graveside services for Mrs. Cellie Koen, 94, of Memphis, TX, will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 9, 2007 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Darrell Burton, Officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Koen passed away Saturday, October 6, 2007 in Clarendon, TX. Cellie was born on October 19, 1912 in Blossom, TX to the late Mr. Rufus E. Lowe and Mrs. Ara Elizabeth Brown Lowe. She was a graduate of Lakeview High School where she was salutatorian of her class. She moved to Memphis, TX in 1946 from Plaska, TX. She married Joseph Stanley in 1940. He preceded her in death in 1944. She then married D. B. Koen in 1956 in Memphis, TX. He preceded her in death in 1988. She worked as a nurse for Stevenson Clinic in Memphis, TX until retiring in 1978. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by one son, Lynn Koen and one brother, James Burl Lowe. She is survived by three sons, George Edward Stanley of Lawton, OK; Kenneth Koen of Bowie, TX; Truitt Koen of Sabinal, TX; one daughter, JoAnn Dickens of Clarendon, TX; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family will greet friends on Monday, October 8, 2007 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Hughs Funeral Home, 514 N 10th St., Memphis, TX 79245. The family suggests memorials to Odyssey Health Care and Hospice Care, 6900 W Interstate 40 Suite 1500, Amarillo, TX 79106, Fairview Cemetery, P.O. Box 265, Memphis, TX 79245 or Medical Center Nursing Home, 10 Medical Center Drive, Clarendon, TX 79226.
