Irene Bell Dixon

Irene Dixon Canadian: (Special) - Services for Irene Dixon, 83, of Canadian, TX will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Les Hall, officiating. Burial will be in Washita Cemetery in Hemphill County under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mrs. Dixon died Friday, June 10, 2005 in Wheeler, TX. She was born on November 13, 1921 in Alanreed, TX to the late Mr. James Green and Mrs. Ella Davis Green. Irene attended grammar school at Washita Elementary and was a graduate of Canadian High School. She then attended and graduated from Draughton Business School in Borger, TX. She married Marvin Dixon on December 18, 1936 in Mobeetie, TX. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1996. Irene moved to Borger, TX and resided there from 1950 until 1970. She then moved back to Hemphill County. She was an independent bookkeeper and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by one son, Audie Dixon, one brother, James Green and one sister, Estelle Downs. She is survived by one daughter, Brenda May of Canadian, TX; two grandchildren, Lance May and Chad May both of Arlington, TX. The family suggest memorials be to the American Heart Association, 2404 West 7th, Amarillo, TX 79106.
