B.J. Patton

Services for B.J. Patton, 68, of Canadian, TX will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jesse Hodge, officiating and Ben Mathers and Rev. Danny Sanders, assisting. Burial will follow in Darrouzett Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. B.J. passed away Thursday, December 20, 2012 in Canadian, TX. B.J. was born September 30, 1944 to the late Mr. Jack Patton and Mrs. Florence (Norris) Patton. He was a 1963 graduate of Sundown High School. He received a degree in business in 1969 from West Texas State University and received his Masters degree in 1973. B.J. was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. He married Sue (Yauck) on November 18, 1967 in Darrouzett, TX. They moved to Canadian, TX in 1978 from Amarillo, TX. B.J. considered himself a country banker. He worked for Amarillo National Bank for 5 years before moving to Canadian and going to work at the First National Bank. He was in the banking industry from 1973 until retiring in September of 2009. He was a member of the Canadian Rotary Club for the past 25 years and the First United Methodist Church. B.J. was a very devoted and loving husband and father who met the challenges of parenting with love and devotion. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy Patton. He is survived by his wife, Sue Patton of Canadian, TX; his children, Cole Patton and wife Susan of McKinney, TX; Nate Patton of Canadian, TX; his brother, Lawrence Patton and wife Joyce of San Antonio, TX; his sisters, Martha Pickett and husband Bill of Burkburnett, TX; Vivian Lawrence of Wichita Falls, TX.
