Memphis, TX – Funeral services for Rebecca Paschall Bruce, 93, of Memphis, TX, will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 28, 2013, at the Church of Christ in Memphis with Mr. Tom Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the personal care of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Rebecca Bruce was born on January 5, 1920, in Lakeview, Texas, to M.W. and Florence (Wallace) Paschall. She passed away on January 26, 2013, in Memphis, TX. Rebecca grew up in Lakeview where she attended school until the family moved to Memphis. She graduated from Memphis High Scholl and attended one year of Business School in Amarillo. Rebecca and Boyce “Diamond” Bruce were high school sweethearts. Boyce served his country during World War II and when he returned they were married on December 25, 1946, in Estelline, TX. Rebecca was a former member of the PTA, a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Memphis Cyclone Band Boosters and Helping Hands. She worked as a secretary and later as a bookkeeper for Lesley Coop Gin for 25 years until she retired. She loved baking, canning and gardening. She was a member of the Church of Christ and she had a servant’s heart that loved to serve others. Rebecca was a very loving wife, mother, grandmama and great grandmama. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Raymond, Isaac, Al and Gene Paschall and one sister, Irene “Pat” Bryant. Rebecca is survived by her husband, Boyce “Diamond” Bruce of Memphis, two daughters, Judy Gentry & husband Gary of Memphis & Boycene McKinney & husband Greg of Amarillo, one brother, Frederick T. “T-Bone” Paschall of Borger, three sisters, Marie Mayhugh of Garland, Willie Merl “Bill” Adams of Amarillo & Betty Sue Scott of Longview, her grandchildren, Cade Gentry, Jill Stewart & husband Brad, Ryan Gentry & wife Jamie, Ty McKinney & wife Mariah, Kyle McKinney & wife Treva & Kayla McKinney & fiancé Matthew Shields, her great grandchildren, Laci & Stetson Stewart, Carson & Brady Gentry, Jossalyn & Blakelyn McKinney & a baby girl due in July along with numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memphis Church of Christ Benevolent Fund, 1625 N 18th Street, Memphis, TX 79245 or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
