Canadian: (Special) - Services for Bill D. Popham, 75, of Canadian, TX will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 25, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Monte Kreis, officiating and Dr. Dean English assisting. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, TX under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mr. Popham died Wednesday, September 21, 2005 in Canadian, TX. He was born on December 10, 1929 in Lipscomb County, TX to the late Mr. Lee Popham and Mrs. Della Adair Popham. He was a 1948 graduate of Canadian High School. He married Pat McMeans on June 7, 1951 at the First Baptist Church in Canadian, TX. He moved to Canadian, TX in 1951 from Lipscomb County, TX. Bill was a farmer on the family farm in Lipscomb County until the late 1980’s. He retired in March of 1992 from the Texas Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Canadian Volunteer Fire Department, Past President of the Canadian Lions Club and Hemphill County Hospice Board. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church and American Cancer Society. He is survived by his wife, Pat Popham of Canadian, TX; one son, Keith Popham and wife Rhonda of Houston, TX; one daughter, Sally Anderson and husband Joe of Perryton, TX; one sister, Minnie Lee Howard of Amarillo, TX; six grandchildren, Sarah Collins of Webster, TX; Cole Popham and Gary Popham both of College Station, TX; Ray Anderson of San Marcus, TX; Gordon Anderson and Jackson Anderson both of Perryton, TX. The family suggest memorials be to the Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S 4th, Canadian, TX 79014 or American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
