Memorial services for Clara Sarrels Greene, 100, of Canadian, TX will be at 11:00 AM Sunday, February 3, 2013 at Hughs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Jim Pollard, officiating. Inurnment will be at Eller Flat Prairie Dell Cemetery at a later date under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Clara passed away Friday, February 1, 2013 in Canadian, TX. Clara was born November 26, 1912 in Blue, OK, to the late Mr. Horace G. Sarrels and Mrs. Cue Vee (Dial) Sarrels. She attended schools in Hatcher, OK and Blue, OK. She married J.D. Greene on January 21, 1936 in Sayre, OK. He preceded her in death on January 21, 1989. They moved to the Gem City Community in 1938 from Sayre, OK where they farmed and ranched. Clara was known for her gardening, lemon meringue pies, and tatting. She was a great land conservationist and enjoyed watching women's basketball on TV. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Ralph and H.G. Sarrels. She is survived by her daughters, Jan’et Schaef and husband Joe and Suzanne Anderson and husband Stuart all of Canadian, TX; her sister, Faye Pearcy of Odessa, TX; four grandchildren, Tammy Pollard and husband Greg of Kansas City, MO; Todd Schaef and wife Heather of West Richland, WA; Toby Schaef and wife Elizabeth of Lubbock, TX; Derek Anderson and wife Janssen of Frisco, TX; 9 great-grandchildren, Claire and Spencer Schaef both of West Richland, WA; Jacob, Ian and Wyatt Schaef all of Lubbock, TX; Jackson Anderson of Frisco, TX; Whitney, Maddie and Matt Pollard all of Kansas City, MO. The family suggests memorials be sent to Hemphill County Library, 500 Main St., Canadian, TX 79014 or River Valley Pioneer Museum, 118 N 2nd St., Canadian, TX 79014.
