Memphis, TX -- Services for Ola "Memaw" Wooten, 98, of Memphis, TX, will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at Hughs Memorial Chapel in Memphis, TX, with Mr. Tim Sparks officiating, and Rev. Austin Ridley assisting. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Wooten passed away on Monday, September 26, 2005 in Memphis, TX. She was born on June 26, 1907 in Madill, OK to the late Mr. Ples Bishop and Mrs. Ludie Bishop. She grew up in Oklahoma and moved to Memphis, TX in 1936. She married James H. Wooten, who preceded her in death on April 15, 1981. Mrs. Wooten was the head cook at Travis Elementary School in Memphis for many years, and was a member of Westside Fellowship in Memphis. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Glen Wooten and Phil Wooten. She is survived one daughter, Wanda Melton of Memphis, Texas; one son, J.R. Wooten of Tennessee; one sister, Mamie Lee Veasey of Austin, Texas; one brother, Pete Bishop of Elk City, OK; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 at the funeral home. The family requests memorials be made to the Fairview Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 265, Memphis, TX 79245.
