Irene Henderson Mason

Services for Irene Henderson Mason, 88, of Oklahoma City, OK formerly of Canadian, TX will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 29, 2008 at Hughs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bob Meller, officiating. Burial will follow in Eller Flat Prairie Dell Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, Texas. Mrs. Mason passed away Saturday, February 23, 2008 in Oklahoma City, OK. Irene was born July 21, 1919 in Red Lands, OK to the late Mr. Charles Pittman and Mrs. Dora Pearl (Bell) Pittman. She was a 1936 graduate of Idabel High School. She then went on and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with a degree in Elementary Education. She married George Henderson on August 19, 1939 in Idabel, OK. He preceded her in death on February 12, 1987. She later married Marvin Mason on March 14, 1993 in Donna, TX. Irene was a school teacher for 22 years in Allison, TX. She was a member of Gem Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Edgar, David and Charles Pittman and one sister, Margaret Epton. Irene is survived by her husband, Marvin Mason of Oklahoma City, OK; two daughters, Linda Hutcherson and husband Dewey of Plainview, TX; Sandra Steele and husband Terry of Herndon, VA; one sister, Elizabeth Kirkendall and husband James of Oklahoma City, OK; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to your favorite charity.
