Services for Mrs. Oma Jean Parr, 81, of Memphis, TX, will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the First Baptist Church in Memphis, TX with Rev. Daniel Downey, officiating and Dr. O.K. Bowen, assisting. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Parr passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008 in Memphis, TX. She was born on November 14, 1926 in Cottle County, TX to the late Mr. J.W. Smith and Mrs. Iva Sharp Smith. She attended grammar school in Grow, TX and graduated as salutatorian of Paducah High School. She then went on to receive a degree in Math Education from Texas State College for Women in Denton, TX. She married Clee Parr on March 14, 1948 in Memphis, TX. She was a homemaker and also taught math for 10 years at Memphis High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Memphis. She was also a member of the Texas State College for Women Alumni Association. She was preceded in death by one brother, Warn Smith and one sister, Ima Dean Higdon. She is survived by her husband, Clee Parr of Memphis, TX; one son, Greg Parr and wife Misty of Memphis, TX; one daughter, Kelley Gardenhire and husband Kirby of Memphis, TX; five grandchildren, Reagan Parr, Lindsay Gardenhire, Riley Parr, Brice Gardenhire, and Rhett Parr all of Memphis, TX. The family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church, 121 S 8th St., or Fairview Cemetery, P.O. Box 265, Memphis, TX 79245.
