Cruzita Mestas

Memphis, TX – Funeral services for Cruzita Mestas, 103, of Memphis, TX, will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Memphis, Texas with Father David Contreras officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery under the personal care of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, TX. Rosary services will be at 7:00 P.M., Monday, March 25, 2013, at Hughs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Cruzita Mestas was born on October 24, 1909, in Logan, New Mexico, to Santiago and Pablita (Crespin) Garcia. She passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013, in Memphis, TX. Cruzita Mestas married Leandro Mestas, Sr. on May 2, 1934, in Tucumcari, New Mexico. He preceded her in death on January 23, 1984. They moved to Lakeview in 1947 and later in 1969, they moved to Memphis. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, her parents, a daughter, Mary Helen Mestas and a son Leandro Mestas, Jr. Cruzita is survived by four daughters, Ramona Soliz & Josie Solis of Amarillo, Polly Murdock of Memphis and Janie & Luis Cortez of Amarillo, five sons, Pat Mestas of Amarillo, Freddy Mestas of Longview, Johnny & Jeri Mestas of Amarillo, Joe Ray Mestas of Memphis and Manuel Mestas of Memphis, 30 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.
