Services for Mrs. Jimmie Montgomery, 88, of Memphis, TX will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at the First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ila Mayes, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Montgomery passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008 in Memphis, TX. Jimmie was born June 7, 1919 in Leslie, TX to the late Mr. James O. Adams and Mrs. Bessie Ann (Lay) Adams. She attended grammar school in Leslie, TX and graduated from Lakeview High School. She also attended the University of Texas Tech. She married Joe Montgomery on December 25, 1941 in Memphis, TX. He preceded her in death on December 11, 1982. They moved to Memphis, TX in 1952 from Brice, TX. Jimmie was a longtime member and very active of the First Presbyterian Church and the First Presbyterian Church Ladies Guild. She was a member of the Red River Red Hatters Club, 1913 study club and a local bridge club. She also served on the PTA board and was a West Minister Fellowship teacher. She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Myers of Lakeview, TX; Sarah Beth Cook of Amarillo, TX; four grandchildren, Jason Cook of McKinney, TX; Shannon Estrada of Fort Worth, TX; Scott Myers of Claude TX; Jennifer Glover of Austin, TX and five great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to the Presbyterian Preservation Foundation in care of First Bank and Trust, P.O. Box 100, Memphis, TX 79245; or to Fairview Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 265, Memphis, TX 79245.
