Ruth Langkeit

Services for Mrs. Ruth Helen Langkeit, 87, of Higgins, TX will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Higgins with Rev. Monte Kreis, officiating and Rev. Blake Durham, assisting. Burial will follow in the Higgins Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Ruth Helen passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 in Higgins, TX. Ruth Helen was born February 3, 1926 in Clinton, OK to the late Mr. Olie Sights and Mrs. Nettie (Hill) Sights. She attended schools in Stafford, OK. She married Orville Langkeit on February 27, 1943 in Stafford, OK. They moved to Texas in 1949 and went to work on the Big Bull Ranch. In 1952, they went to work on the F.H. McQuiddy Ranch and later moved to Higgins in 1983. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church. Ruth Helen was a seamstress, loved to read and work crossword puzzles, painted oil paintings and enjoyed playing cards with special friends. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Justin South; her brother, Olie Lee Sights; her sisters, Iris McGoffin, Florene Murphy and Jody Shakespeare. She is survived by her husband, Orville Langkeit of Higgins, TX; her daughter, Terry South of Canadian, TX. The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity
