Services for Allen Swires, 87, of Pampa, TX will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Central Baptist Church in Canadian, TX with C.W. Parker, officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX.Allen passed away Sunday, April 27, 2014 in Pampa, TX.Allen was born June 21, 1926 in Canadian, TX to the late Mr. Archie Swires and Mrs. Anna (Evans) Swires. He was a 1947 graduate of Canadian High School. He also attended Amarillo Junior College. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II. He married Lola Willmoth on April 30, 1949 in Amarillo, TX. She preceded him in death on July 14, 2011. Allen was a retired Baptist Minister. He was also a member of Wapato Bible Baptist Church in Yakima, WA before moving to Pampa in 2011. He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Swires. He is survived by four sons, Danny Swires and wife Kathy of Brodheadsville, PA; Stephen Swires and wife Elizabeth of Burns Lake, BC Canada; Phillip Swires and wife Chris of Anchorage, AK; Robert Swires and partner Freddie of Yakima, WA; four brothers, Ernest Swires and wife Trudy of Claude, TX; Bill Swires and wife Kathleen of Creswell, OR; David Swires and wife Gloria of Pampa, TX; Jerry Swires and wife Sherry of LeFors, TX; two sisters, Joyce Matthews of Canadian, TX; Stella Holt of Amarillo, TX; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Odyssey Hospice, 6900 Interstate 40, Amarillo, TX 79106 or Special Olympics, 8523 CR 10, Pampa, TX 79065.
