Memphis, TX -- Services for Beulah Martin, 82, of Memphis, TX, will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 6, 2006 at First United Methodist Church in Memphis, TX, with Honorable Sr. Judge John Forbes officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Lakeview, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Martin passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2006 in Amarillo, TX. She was born on October 24, 1923 on the Kirkland farm south of Lakeview, TX to the late George Kirkland and Linnie (Maddox) Kirkland. She grew up in Hall county and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1942. She married Jack Martin on October 14, 1945 in Memphis, TX. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1974. Mr. and Mrs. Martin lived and farmed in the Newlin community for several years. They also lived in Amarillo, TX, where she worked for Russels' Stationary. They returned to Memphis in 1950. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Memphis, where she was a charter member of the Hightower Sunday School class. She was also involved in the Oliver Circle at church, worked in the preschool department and served as a communion steward for many years. Mrs. Martin was also a housewife. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by five brothers. She is survived by one son, Jacky Martin of Memphis, TX; one daughter, Melissa Kiker and husband Lon of Wellington, TX; two grandchildren, Victoria Erin Kiker and Grace Alexandria Kiker, both of Wellington; one sister, Georgia Fortner of Amarillo, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 5, 2005 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First United Mehtodist Church, 121 N. 8th, Memphis, TX 79245.
