Dewey "PeeWee" Simmons

Memphis, TX -- Services for Dewey "PeeWee" Simmons, 76, of Memphis, TX, will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 14, 2006 at First United Methodist Church in Memphis, TX, with Tom Posey officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mr. Simmons passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2006 in Memphis, TX. He was born on February 2, 1929 in Durant, OK to the late George Simmons and Christene (Davis) Simmons. He grew up in Childress, TX. He married Olive Smith on August 14, 1949. She preceded him in death on January 22, 1991. Mr. Simmons worked as a parts man for many years, having worked for Brown Auto Supply, John Deere, and Red River Sales. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America and the Memphis Kiwanis Club. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Memphis. He is survived by one daughter, Mary Lou Lozier and husband Tad of Fritch, TX; two sons, Mark Simmons and wife Betty of Lakeview, TX, and Barry Simmons and wife Debra of Canyon, TX; one sister, Roberta Swatosh of Canton, MI; two brothers, Francis Simmons of Borger, TX and Forrest Simmons of Morgan Mills, TX; seven grandsons, Micah Payne, Jordan Simmons, Tyler Simmons, Will Lozier, Clay Lozier, Dustin Simmons, and Brandon Simmons; one great granddaughter, Emily Payne; one sister-in-law, Florita Branigan of Memphis; one nephew, Michael Branigan of Memphis; and one niece, Elmonette Bivens of Clarendon, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial be made to Memphis Boy Scout Troop #435, P.O. Box 253, Memphis, TX 79245.
