Services for Bill J. Morgan, 76, of Canadian, TX will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 26, 2006 at the Church of Christ with Dr. Dean English, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mr. Morgan died Sunday, January 22, 2006 in Amarillo, TX. He was born on July 7, 1929 in Wilbarger County, TX to the late Mr. Ross Morgan and Mrs. Amy Jackson Morgan and his step mother Elva Morgan. He was a graduate of Littlefield High School. He married Loreta McMullen on July 29, 1950 in Lubbock, TX. They moved to Canadian, TX in November of 1974 from Brownfield, TX. Bill was a supervisor fisherman and involved in the snubbing operation in the oilfield, he was employed with Bobcat Pressure Control. He also managed the Canadian Yard. Bill has worked in the oilfield industry for 53 years. He was past president of API and Rotary. He was also a member of the Church of Christ and SAR. He was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Joe Morgan in May of 1991 and Steven Glen Morgan in June of 2001. He is survived by his wife, Loreta Morgan of Canadian, TX; one daughter, Melanie Pittman and husband Burl of Canadian, TX; four grandchildren, Cody Pittman and wife Clydene of Seiling, OK; B.J. Morgan of Iowa Park, TX; Amber Leach and husband Colby of Canadian, TX; Cory Pittman of Canadian, TX and fiancẽ Elizabeth Hall of Albuquerque, NM; and two great-grandchildren, Avery Leach and Dylan Leach both of Canadian, TX. The family suggests memorials to the Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S 4th, Canadian, TX 79014 or Hemphill County Library, 500 Main, Canadian, TX 79014.
