Memorial services for Hilde Hink, 70, of Memphis, TX will be at 10:30 AM Monday, December 15, 2008 in the Hughs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Memphis, TX, with Rev. Daniel Downey, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Memphis, officiating under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis, Texas. A committal service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 19, 2008 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Parkers Prairie, MN with Pastor Kirk Lee officiating. Mrs. Hink passed away Friday, December 12, 2008 in Amarillo, TX. Hilde was born on November 25, 1938 in Nikolayev, Ukraine, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob and Maria (Weibe) Gunter. She and her family left the Ukraine during the height of WWII and went to Poland and later to West Germany. In 1948, they were sponsored by the Amish people in Maryland and came to live in the United States. In 1952 they moved to the Mennonite community in Mountain Lake, MN, and when she turned 16 she went to work in a poultry processing plant to help support her family. At 18, she went to the School of Cosmetology in Minneapolis, and she was a hairdresser for the remainder of her life. She and Ronald Hink were married on April 19, 1969 in Minnetonka, MN. She is survived by her husband, Ronald, one son, Michael Hink; one daughter, Nikie Noldin; three brothers, Jacob Gunter, Henry Gunter and David Gunter; two sisters, Elfrieda “Fritzi” Chouinard and Adina King; four grandchildren; and 18 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to BSA Hospice, PO Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105.
