Services for Walter E. “Guy” Shaw Jr., 68, of Canadian, TX will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Abundant Life Assembly of God with Rev. Justin Coleman, officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Walter passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 in Canadian, TX. Walter was born July 21, 1946, in Liberal, KS to the late Mr. Walter E. Shaw Sr. and Mrs. Margaret (Turner) Shaw. He attended schools in Perryton, TX. In 1992, he received his registered nursing degree from Amarillo College. He married Sheryl Voorhees on July 30, 1965 in Perryton, TX. She preceded him in death on February 6, 2006. They moved to Canadian on January 19, 1978, from Perryton. Walter worked in the oilfield and was the Director of Nurses at the Edward Abraham Memorial Home and worked in various area hospitals. He later went to work for Eddie’s Oilfield Service. He was a member of the Abundant Life Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Walter was survived by his son, Jeremy Shaw of Canadian, TX; his daughter, Jace Daily and husband Matt of Fort Worth, TX; his grandchildren, Salem and Elijah Daily both of Fort Worth, TX; two brothers, Gene Shaw of Santa Fe, TX; Bill Shaw of Alvin, TX The family suggests memorials may be made to Abundant Life Assembly of God, 310 Birch, Canadian, TX 79014 or Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 South 4th St., Canadian, TX 79014.
