Canadian, TX: (Special) – Graveside services for Mr. Ralph R. Hornberger, 95, of Canadian, TX will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery with his family officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Ralph passed away Sunday, August 2, 2015 in Canadian, TX. Ralph was born February 17, 1920 in Alex, OK to the late Mr. Carl Hornberger and Mrs. Lettie Ruth (Brock) Hornberger. He attended schools in Oklahoma near the Tishomingo area. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. He married Velma Lee Golleher on March 17, 1962 in Canadian, TX. She preceded him in death on October 18, 2013. Ralph worked for Harvard Construction for 24 years until retiring in 1987. They moved to Canadian in 1987 from Kermit, TX. He was a life member of VFW. He was also a member of the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his son, Duane Mecham, his granddaughter, Alicia Hornberger, his son-in-law, David Bennett; daughter-in-law, Peggy Hornberger and three sisters, Mary Freeman, Ethel Jarmen and Vada Gilbert. He is survived by his sons, Richard Lee Hornberger of Carmen, TX; Jerry Mack Hornberger and wife Linda of Salado, TX; his daughters, Vicki Cain and husband David of Morgan’s Point, TX; Susie Baxter and husband Shaffer of Canadian, TX; Linda Bennett of Borger, TX; two brothers, Carl Edward Hornberger age 97, and wife Evie of Campbell, TX; Charles Hornberger age 87, and wife Lorena of Granbury, TX; 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
