Services for Ann A. Webb, 84, of Canadian, TX will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church with her son, Rt. Rev. Morgan Arrington Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Ann went peacefully to join her Loving Creator on Monday, September 14, 2015. Ann was born on the Arrington “Rocking Chair” Ranch on December 23, 1930 to the late Mr. French Arrington and Mrs. Ollie Mae (Lake) Arrington. She was a beautiful blonde who excelled in school and at making friendships, with many lasting her whole life. She was a 1948 graduate of Canadian High School. She then went on to graduate in 1953 with a degree in English from the University of Arizona. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi. While attending the University of Arizona, she met and married Kenneth B. Johnson. He passed away in 1996. The two settled in Mesa, AZ where they raised their four children amid a flurry of volunteer activities, reading for the blind, church bazaars and children’s swimming lessons. She was president of Mona Club (womens club) that raised monies for children’s after school care, immunization programs and supported HoHoKam. She loved baseball, would watch her children shag balls for the Oakland A’s at Rendezvous Park training camp in Mesa. She also became assistant to the president of Associated Grocers. In 1990, she returned to her home state of Texas and her beloved Canadian to be near family and friends. It was during this period an old high school romance was rekindled with Allen Arthur Webb Jr. They got married on July 3, 1990 and lived happily on Clear Creek Ranch until his passing on May 23, 2003. Ann was an active member of the Merry Bidders Bridge club for many years. She delivered meals on wheels from 1990 to 2014. She was a strong believer in the WCTU building and the Bazaar where she served on the board. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Jane Johnson Eck. She is survived by her children, Rt. Rev. Morgan Arrington Johnson and wife Mary E. Johnson of University Place, WA; Janice Johnson Moore and husband William R. Moore of Canadian, TX; Denver Arrington Johnson and wife Billie Jo of Canadian, TX; son-in-law, Robert Eck of Gold Canyon, AZ ; her brothers, George W. Arrington of Canadian, TX; William Lake Arrington of Pampa, TX; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to Meals on Wheels, 1020 South 4th St., Canadian, TX 79014 or Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 South 4th St., Canadian, TX 79014.
