Services for Mr. Johnnie B. Harris Sr., 80, of Memphis will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Coleman, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mr. Harris passed away Thursday, April 9, 2009 in Childress, TX. Johnnie B. was born May 16, 1928 in Shelby County, TX to the late Mr. Foster Harris Sr. and Mrs. Bertha (Jackson) Harris. He attended school in Shelby County. He moved to Memphis, TX in 1948 from Arkansas. He was married to Virgie Henderson. Johnnie B. worked for the Memphis Compress for 33 years and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one son, Johnnie B. Harris Jr. He is survived by his wife, Virgie Harris of Memphis, TX; two sons, Robert Brewer of Memphis, TX; James F. Harris of Fort Worth, TX; five daughters, Marie Hubbard of Center, TX; Gwendolyn Harris of Dallas, TX; Betty Harris of Center, TX; Sheila Marie Harris of Hope, AR; Janice Marie Gipson of Fort Wayne, IN; five brothers, Foster Harris Jr. of Houston, TX; R.E. Harris of Fort Worth, TX; Felix Harris of San Augustine, TX; Charlie Harris of Tyler, TX; Richard Harris of Lufkin, TX; two sisters, Eula Lee Bratchett and Ethel Mae Harris both of San Augustine, TX; one aunt, Mozelle Smith of Center, TX; 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
