Canadian, TX: (Special) – Services for Don Wyatt Rader, 91, of Canadian, TX will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Danny Sanders, officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Don passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016in Canadian, TX. Don was born June 1, 1924 in Shattuck, OK to the late Mr. Ernest Justin Rader and Mrs. Bonnie Bernice (Harris) Rader. He was a 1942 graduate of Shattuck High School in Shattuck, OK, and was a 1948 graduate of Oklahoma A&M in Stillwater, OK. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, where he received the Purple Heart award in 1944. He was in the 393rd K Company 99th Infantry Division of the Battle of the Bulge, where he was badly injured. He married Mary Esther Gerard on May 31, 1948, in Stillwater, OK. Don was a rancher and a member of the Canadian Rotary Club, past director of the Lipscomb County Soil Conservation and Farm House Fraternity of Oklahoma State University. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Don Wyatt, Jr., and his sister, Betty Bernice. He is survived by his wife, Mary Esther Rader, of Canadian, TX; his son, Stephen Gerard Rader and wife, Linda, of Canadian, TX; his daughters, Catherine Sue (Rader) Barney and husband, Ronald, of Stillwater, OK; Judith Anne (Rader) Mann and husband, Matt, of Canadian, TX; Nancy Ruth (Rader) Schwerzenbach and husband, Chris, of Canadian, TX; Mary Elizabeth (Rader) “Betsy” Alexander and husband, Tim, of Canadian, TX; 11 grandchildren, Christopher Barney, Mollie Barney Godwin, Justin Rader, Haley Rader Ward, Sarah Rader, Rachel Schwerzenbach, Caroline Schwerzenbach, Sam Schwerzenbach, Ryan Alexander, Annie Alexander, Emily Alexander and 4 great-grandchildren, Eden Kathryn Kirkhart, Ashley, Abby, and Allie Elizabeth Godwin. The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church, 520 Main St., Canadian, TX 79014.
