Graveside services for Mrs. Lorene Hostutler, 83, of Higgins, TX will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 8, 2009 at Higgins Cemetery with Rev. David Donovan, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mrs. Hostutler passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in Booker, Texas. Lorene was born September 13, 1925 in Lipscomb County, TX to the late Mr. Karl Laubhan and Mrs. Kathryn (Reisig) Laubhan. She was a 1943 graduate of Higgins High School. She then went on to attend Blair Business College in Colorado Springs, CO. She married David Hostutler on October 21, 1944 in Pampa, TX. David and Lorene were engaged in the farming and ranching business in Lipscomb County for many years. Lorene joined the First United Methodist Church in Higgins in 1942. She had a strong Christian faith where she loved and cherished her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Grace of God was very real to her. Her favorite hobby was her passion for gardening and grooming an immaculate yard. She so enjoyed the compliments from friends about her flowers and yard. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Alex and Jonah Laubhan and two sisters, Leta and Martha Laubhan. She is survived by her husband, David Hostutler of Higgins, TX; several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The family will greet friends on Thursday, May 7, 2009 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the First Christian Church Chapel in Canadian. The family suggests memorials be made to your favorite charity. Viewing will be available at the First Christian Church Chapel at 402 Purcell Ave in Canadian.
