Services for Bill Miller, 73, of Canadian, Texas, will be at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at the Church of Christ with Dr. Dean English, officiating. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian, TX under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, Texas. Mr. Miller passed away Monday, June 1, 2009 in Canadian, Texas. Bill was born November 12, 1935 in Canadian, TX to the late Mr. James Miller and Mrs. Ruby (Farnsworth) Miller. He was a 1955 graduate of Canadian High School. He then went on to attend West Texas State University in Canyon, TX. He married Deanne Gafford on August 9, 1980 in Canadian, TX. He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany as a sergeant in the Field Artillery. Bill was known as “Papa” and was dearly loved by all his grandchildren and will be greatly missed. Bill was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed fishing and inventing new things. He was preceded in death by his son, Woody Charles Miller and his brother, Ralph Gross. He is survived by his wife, Deanne Miller of Canadian, TX; four daughters, Suzanne Baker and husband Junior of New Deal, TX; Ruth Ann Abraham and husband Salem of Canadian, TX; Melinda Hedgecoke and husband Ed of Canadian, TX; Dana Dennis of Canadian, TX; two sons, Kerry Miller and wife Karen and Scott Miller and wife Heather all of New Deal, TX; two sisters, Joyce Mathis of Pampa, TX; Audrey Cockrell and husband Pig of Canadian, TX; four brothers, Jim Miller and wife Barbara of Blaine, WA; Gene Miller and wife Linda and Jack Miller and Vern Lahlum all of Pampa, TX; 23 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials to Lone Star Angel Project, P.O. Box 303, Canadian, TX 79014. Viewing will be available at the First Christian Church Chapel at 402 Purcell Ave in Canadian.
