Ruth L. Hodges

Ruth L. Hodges, 93, of Canadian, died September 6, 2016 in Canadian. Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Carmichael-Whatley Canadian Chapel, with Rev. Danny Sanders, pastor of First United Methodist Church, and Donald Hill, pastor of River Ministries, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mrs. Hodges was born January 2, 1923 in Canadian where she had been a lifelong resident. She married Lester Hodges on September 12, 1938. He preceded her in death on August 18, 1999. Ruth was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canadian. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by a daughter, Jerry Hodges; a sister, Ruby Mowles; a granddaughter, Lori Collins; and a son-in-law, Ed Nolan. Survivors include two daughters, Maxine Nolan of Amarillo, and Jackie McPherson and husband Kenny of Canadian; three grandchildren, Kenzie Stucki and husband Grant of College Station, Quentin McPherson of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Patrick Nolan and wife Starshine of Austin; and five great grandchildren. Memorial may be made to the Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S. 4th, Canadian, Texas 79014.
