William "Dub" Goodnight

Graveside services for W.H. “Dub” Goodnight, Jr., 90, of Memphis, TX, will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Fairview Cemetery Chapel in Memphis, TX with Masonic Rights, conducted by Memphis Masonic Lodge #220. Interment will follow under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, TX. Mr. W.H. “Dub” Goodnight, Jr. passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2009 in Memphis, TX. Mr. Goodnight was born February 14, 1919 in Memphis, TX to the late Mr. W.H. Goodnight, Sr. and Mrs. Addie Mae Gracey Goodnight. He was a graduate of Memphis High School. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II. Dub married Lettie Wiginton on July 31, 1945 in Amarillo, TX. She preceded him in death on March 29, 1985. Mr. Goodnight worked for the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for 26 years. He was a member of the Memphis Masonic Lodge #220. While serving he received his 50 and 60 year certificates, serving a total of 69 years. He was also a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by one brother, Hal Goodnight; two sisters, Pauline Knight and C.J. McDavitt. He is survived by two daughters, C.J. Nail of Franklin, TN and Susan Goodnight of Cedar Hill, TX; two grandchildren, Jane-Ann Myers of Franklin, TN and John D. Nail, Jr. of Nashville, TN; three great-grandchildren, Kit Goodnight Myers and Lettie Jane Myers of Franklin, TN and Jack Nail of Nashville, TN. The family suggests memorials to the Preservation Foundation, P.O. Box 295, Memphis, TX 79245. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 28, 2009 from 6:00 to 7:00 at Hughs Funeral Home.
