Glen Bill Walker

Glen Bill Walker, 86 of Canadian, died April 4, 2017. Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, April 7, 2017 at the First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Travis Allen officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mr. Walker was born June 27, 1930 in Durham, Oklahoma to Verona Keller Walker and Feo Doyle “Pat” Walker. He attended schools in Durham and graduated from Canadian High School. Glen Bill married Peggy Joan Ramp on July 2, 1951 at the Ramp Ranch in the Gem Community.   Peggy preceded him in death in 1989. Glen Bill was a lifelong rancher, spending the majority of his adult years working on the Ramp Ranch. Glen Bill was a deacon and elder at the First Presbyterian Church and served on the Hemphill County Hospital Board, the Blue Ridge School Board, and the Gem Volunteer Fire Department. Glen Bill later married Helen Ann Riley on January 19, 1991. He was an avid pilot and his hobbies included flying and quarter horse racing. He was preceded in death by his son, Pat Walker: step-brother Ronnie Cole and a great-granddaughter. Survivors include his wife, Helen Ann Walker of the home: daughter, Anna Brown and husband Don of Dallas: step-children, Riley Rood and husband Eddie of Dallas and Richard Barton and wife Roxanne of Frisco: a sister Zelda Pendergrass of Amarillo,: eight grandchildren, Emily Brown, Margaret Brown, and Walker Brown of Dallas, Kelly Staples of New Orleans, Jo Reinker of Dallas, Melissa Curbo and Chad Walker of Canadian, and Rachel Smith of Canyon and two great–grandsons.; a niece, Zeborah Hardin of Amarillo; a nephew, George Pendergrass of Amarillo; step-sister Joann Easton of Peoria, Illinois; and many other close family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to the Ramp-Walker Scholarship Fund c/o The First Presbyterian Church, 605 Purcell, Canadian, TX 79014
