Wanda Lois Young

Wanda Lois Young, 69, of Higgins, died April 16, 2017 in Higgins. Memorial services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, April 29, 2017, at Higgins United Methodist Church, with Rev. Blake Durham, pastor, officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mrs. Young was born July 12, 1947 in Post where she attended Post schools. She married Larry Young on September 20, 1981 in Post, moving to Higgins in 2006. Wanda was a nurse’s aide for 25 years, retiring in 2012 and also worked as a bounty hunter for many years. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Higgins. Wanda loved to crochet, knit, cook and fish, and enjoyed camping with her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, and was the best “Mamaw.” Survivors include her husband, Larry Young, of the home; a son, Larry James Young, II and wife Amanda of Higgins; three grandchildren, Justin Young, Sadie Young and Jeti Young; two sisters, Glenda Booth of Willis, and Jalena Peck and husband Clyde of Slaton; and numerous nieces and nephews. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, C. B. and Thelma Lois Bilberry. Memorials may be made to Edward Abraham Nursing Home, 803 Birch Street, Canadian, Texas 79014; or a charity of choice.
