Graveside Services for Frank Ross Gentry, 90, of Memphis, TX, will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 14, 2006 at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, TX, with Dr. Floyd C. Bradley officiating, assisted by Tom Anderson. Interment will follow under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mr. Gentry passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2006 in Amarillo, TX. He was born on November 2, 1915 in Chillicothe, TX to the late Mr. Arthur Monroe Gentry and Martha Lucretia (Baker) Gentry. He grew up in Chillicothe and graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1934. He graduated from Texas A & M University in 1938. He then moved to Memphis, TX, where he worked for the Soil Conservation Service. He served in the United States Army from 1938 until 1945 and was in World War II. He married Ruby Stringer on December 8, 1940 in Memphis, TX. He was a farmer most of his life. Mr. Gentry and his wife traveled extensively. They toured Europe for six months in 1984. They also traveled through Alaska in their Air Stream travel trailer. They were members of the Walley Bynam Caravan Club. Mr. Gentry was a member of First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Charles. He is survived by his wife Ruby of Memphis, TX; two daughters, Paula Allen and husband George of Canyon, TX, and Shari Patterson of Amarillo, TX; two sons, Gary Gentry and wife Judy of Memphis, TX, and Mark Gentry and wife Alexis of Lubbock, TX; one sister, Modina Marschal and husband Bill of Fredericksburg, TX; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home on Saturday, May 13, 2006. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Hall County EMS, P.O. Box 639, Memphis, TX 79245.
