Services for Ruthann “Ann” Morehead Adkins, 51, of Briscoe, TX, will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Canadian, TX with Rev. Donald Hill, officiating and Rev. Danny Sanders, assisting. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mrs. Adkins passed away Sunday, October 11, 2009 in Canadian, TX. Ruthann was born September 20, 1958 in Oklahoma City, OK to Mrs. Dorothea Kelln Morehead and the late Mr. Marshall Glen Morehead. Ann attended school in Oklahoma City, OK , Elk City, OK, Woodward, OK and Canadian, TX and graduated from Canadian High School in 1976. Ann attended McMurry College in Abilene, TX, graduating in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She taught in Miami, TX for the last 29 years, teaching 4th grade, middle school math and special needs students. Ann married Thomas Anthony “Tony” Adkins in Canadian, TX on May 6, 1983 in her parents’ home. She, Tony and their three boys made their home in Miami, TX from 1984 to 1999 and then in Briscoe, TX to the present. She was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, master cookie baker, talented seamstress and most importantly, grandmother to her three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and a niece, Emma-Lee Pool in 1989. Ann is survived by her husband of twenty-six years, Tony Adkins of Briscoe, TX; her children, Taylor and wife Jennifer of Canadian, TX; William and wife Mechelle of Briscoe, TX; Jason and wife Rachel of Canyon, TX; her grandchildren, Hope, Austin and Wyatt of Briscoe, TX; her mother, Dorothea Crowell and husband Erbin of Canadian, TX; her sisters, Marsha Pool and husband Randy of Mabank, TX; Donna Morehead of Amarillo, TX; her brother, Marshall Glen “Pete” Morehead, Jr. and wife Tammie of Higgins, TX; her mother-in-law, Faye Adkins of Canadian, TX and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and a wealth of people who were touched by her desire to make everyone fell special. The family suggests memorials to Miami Independent School District Accelerated Reading Program, P.O. Box 368, Miami, TX 79059.
