Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Salibindla Bala Showreddy, Officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mrs. Cloyd passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2009 in Bethesda, MD. She was born June 8, 1924 in Rochester, TX. She was a graduate of Waco High School. She then went on to receive a Master of Arts Degree in drama from Texas Tech University. She married Cdr. David E. Cloyd, USNR (Ret) on December 22, 1952 in Canadian, TX. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1994. She was exceptionally active for more than 35 years with the Army Navy Country Club Women’s Nine Hole Golf and Ladies Open Tennis organizations and the Maryland Virginia Team Match Association. She was also a Regional Master in the American Contract Bridge League. Mrs. Cloyd was a member of Queen of Apostles Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Paula Ann Cloyd. She is survived by two sons, David E. Cloyd, Jr. and wife Vella of Clearwater, FL; Rear Admiral Dan Cloyd and wife Susan of Alexandria, VA; and two grandchildren, Chris Cloyd of Crested Butte, CO and John Cloyd of Coral Gables, FL. The family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
