Services for Bernie Paul Watson, 80, of Lakeview, TX, will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at the Church of Christ in Memphis, TX with Tom Anderson, officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, TX. Bernie Paul passed away Monday, January 18, 2010 in Childress, TX. He was born January 29, 1929 in Valley View, TX to the late Mr. Elmer H. Watson and Mrs. Mary (Boren) Watson. He was a 1945 graduate of Lakeview High School. Bernie Paul moved to Hall County ten days after his birth, where he has made his home in the Lakeview Community for the past 80 years. He married Georgia Owen on February 14, 1953 in Clovis, NM. He worked as a farmer for most of his life until retiring in 2004. He served as past board member on the Lakeview School Board and Lakeview Farmers Butane C0-OP. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Murlie Watson. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Georgia Watson of Lakeview, TX; his son, Terry Paul Watson and wife Shari of Memphis, TX; his daughter, Tina Lee and husband Bobby of Amarillo, TX; five grandchildren, Tiffany Watson of West Texas A & M University in Canyon, TX; Branden and Tyson Watson both of Memphis, TX; Tyler and Patrick Lee both of Amarillo, TX; his cousin, Shirley Stubblefield and husband James of Bloomer, AR; two nieces, Sue Ferrel and husband John and Janie Hughs and husband Exie all of Memphis, TX; one nephew, Gary Watson of Lubbock, TX; one sister-in-law, Jackie Slatten and husband Jack of Turpin, OK. The family suggests memorials to the Lakeview Cemetery Association, Lakeview, TX 79239.
