Services for Zettie Belle Weatherford Stewart, 91, of Memphis, TX, will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 4, 2006 at First Baptist Church in Memphis, TX, with Rev. Daniel Downey officiating, assisted by Rev. Michael Summers. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mrs. Stewart passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 in Childress, TX. She was born on February 05, 1915 in Saginaw, TX, to the late Mr. Henry Clay Weatherford and Mrs. Lillie (Sanford) Weatherford. She grew up in Tarrant county and moved to Hall county with her family in 1931. She played basketball in high school and was a pitcher for the baseball team. She married James Robert Stewart on April 13, 1933 in Hollis, OK. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1996. Mrs. Stewart worked as a cashier at Perry's in Memphis for 21 years and as a clerk at Greene's for 3 years. She was previously a member of the Eli Mother's Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was active in the choir and taught children's Training Union. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Stewart was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Betty Stewart and Bobbie Stewart, both of Memphis, TX; one son, Jim Stewart of Memphis, TX; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church Music Department, P.O. Box 726, Memphis, TX 79245, or the Fairview Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 265, Memphis, TX 79245.
