Graveside services for Mr. David Bennett, 60, of Canadian, TX, will be at 10:00 AM Friday, March 26, 2010 at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery with Dr. Dean English, officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Canadian, TX. Mr. Bennett passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2010 in Canadian, TX. He was born January 19, 1950 in Danbury, CT to the late Mr. Edmond Bennett and Mrs. Minnie Stevenson Bennett. He attended grammar school in Canadian, TX and graduated from Sturgis, SD. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in Vietnam. He married Linda M. Stoops on December 3, 1974 in Canadian, TX. While living in Canadian, TX he worked as a tool pusher in the oil field for many years. David was owner and operator of a Long Haul Trucking Business in Amarillo, TX. They moved back to Canadian, TX in January 2010 from Amarillo, TX. He was preceded in death by his sister, Beatrice Bennett and his niece, Sharine Bennett. He is survived by his wife, Linda Bennett of Canadian, TX; his son, Jeremy Bennett and wife Lacie of Borger, TX; his daughter, Tina Pinney and husband Mike of Borger, TX; seven grandchildren, Reagon Stapleton of Canadian, TX; Zackary Stapleton, Andon Stapleton, Rose Bennett and Lillie Bennett all of Borger, TX; Auston Pinney and Allison Pinney both of Mount Pleasant, UT; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ralph and Velma Hornberger of Canadian, TX; his sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Shaffer and Susie Baxter of Canadian, TX; David and Vicki Cain of Andrews, TX and his nephew, Trinton Bennett of Notrees, TX. The family suggests memorials to Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 South 4th St., Canadian, TX 79014.
