John Krehbiel

Services for John Krehbiel, 65, of Canadian, TX, will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 26, 2010 at the First Christian Church with Donald Hill, officiating and Matt Cook, assisting. Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Mr. Krehbiel passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010. John was born June 16, 1944 in Canadian, TX to the late Mr. Sam Krehbiel and Mrs. Ester (Schultz) Krehbiel. He was a 1962 graduate of Canadian High School and then went on to attend West Texas State University in Canyon, TX. He was a Veteran of the United States Army serving during Vietnam. John grew up on the Nix Ranch where he later became their ranch foreman. He moved to Miami, TX in 1972 and worked there until he moved back to Canadian in 1984 to work for the Hobart Ranch. He married Susan Benz on May 18, 1988 at the First Christian Church in Canadian. John later became owner and operator of Hobart & Krehbiel Cattle Company. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the American Quarter Horse Association. He was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Krehbiel, his nephew, Matt Krehbiel and his brother-in-law, Sandy Bank. He is survived by his wife, Susan Krehbiel of Canadian, TX; two brothers, Dell Krehbiel and wife Elise and Jerry Krehbiel all of Canadian, TX; five sisters, Sammy Flowers and husband Joe of Gage, OK; Daisy Bank of Salina, KS; Nancy Wheeler and husband John of Canadian, TX; Carolyn Immel and husband Rodney of Amarillo, TX; Virginia Hext and husband Bill of Canadian, TX; one stepson, Joe Hayes and wife Tessa of Canadian, TX; two grandsons, Will and Jake Hayes both of Canadian, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Hughs Funeral Home, 203 South 3rd Street, Canadian, TX 79014. The family suggests memorials to Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 South 4th Street, Canadian, TX 79014 or Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, 600 Southwest 11th Avenue, Amarillo, TX 79101.
