Graveside services for Thomas Walton “Wart” Moore, 89, of Canadian, TX will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 22, 2010 at Eller Flat Prairie Dell Cemetery with Gary Jahnel, officiating and Bob Meller, assisting. Burial will follow under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian, TX. Memorial services will be at 11:30 A.M. Friday, October 22, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Canadian, TX. Wart passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in Canadian, Texas. Wart was born October 9, 1921 in Gem City, TX to the late Mr. Thomas Lindsey Moore and Mrs. Ruby Dean (Morris) Moore. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II. He married Louise Owens on October 19, 1947 in Canadian, TX. Wart was a farmer and rancher out in the Gem City community. He served on the Hemphill County Water and Soil Conservation and on the School Board at Blue Ridge. He was a member of Gem City Baptist Church and later at the First Baptist Church in Durham, OK. He is survived by his wife, Louise Moore of Canadian, TX; four daughters, Paula Timm and husband Dave of Amarillo, TX; Sydna Hamilton and husband Joe of Lubbock, TX; Dianne Huey and husband Wayne of Tuttle, OK and Sheri Hensley of Canadian, TX; one brother, Morris Moore of Canadian, TX; one sister, Dorothy Herd of Pampa, TX; one granddaughter, Anna Abeyta and husband Kevin of Petaluma, CA; one great-grandson, Luke Thomas Abeyta of Petaluma, CA and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggest memorials be made to Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S. 4th, Canadian, TX 79014.
