Services for Clyde C. Collins, 84, of Memphis, TX, will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Memphis, TX, with Rev. Daniel Downey officiating, assisted by Rev. Darrell Burton. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis, TX. Arrangements are under the direction of Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis, Texas. Mr. Collins passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2007 in Memphis, TX. He was born on June 06, 1922 in Memphis, TX to the late Mr. Andy B. Collins and Mrs. Ada (Webb) Collins. He grew up in Memphis, TX, where he lived all of his life. He married Ida Mae Robertson on March 6, 1946 in Memphis. She preceded him in death in May of 2001. Mr. Collins served in The United States Army during World War II from 1940 until 1945. He was a farmer and a member of the Memphis Volunteer Fire Department for over 22 years. He was also a member of Travis Baptist Church. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Collins; one sister, Allie Smith; and four brothers, Leo Collins, Arch Collins, Fred Collins and Tom Collins. He is survived by two daughters, Sondie Springer and husband, Don, of Memphis, TX and Debbie Collins of Memphis, TX; one sister, Jessie Faye Thomas of Amarillo, TX; two brothers, Doyle Collins of Amarillo, TX and Estal Collins of Childress, TX; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. The family requests memorials be made to the Memphis Volunteer Fire Department, 721 Robertson, Memphis, TX 79245, or Odyssey Hospice, 6900 I-40 West, Suite 150, Amarillo, TX 79106.
