Bill Morris, 88, of Canadian died May 21, 2018.

Memorial Services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, May 24, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Canadian. Mitch Brim of Shawnee, KS, officiating with Patti Morris Cox & Rev. Larry Bass, Pastor, assisting. Arrangements by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Bill Morris was born in the Gem Community in Hemphill County, Texas on April 4, 1930 to Ora and Gladys Morris. He was a member of and baptized in the First Presbyterian Church of Canadian. Bill graduated Canadian High School with the class of 1948. Following High School Bill joined and served as a Master Sargent with National Guard of Texas from January 1951 to April 1955, he then served the US Army Reserve as a Second Lt. from April 1955 until June 1960. Bill married Sue Brim on November 4, 1977 in Tallahassee, Florida.

Bill always had a love for horses and started by training Cutting Horses and managing Quarter Horse Farms. Bill and Sue returned to the Gem Community in 1978 where he raised and trained World Champion Quarter Horses. Bill was a Lifetime Member and served as a Director of the American Quarter Horse Association.  He was a well-respected Judge for the AQHA and traveled all over the world as an International Judge for Quarter Horse Competitions.

He is survived by his wife Sue Morris of the home; two daughters; Patti Cox and husband Stephen of Sanford, North Carolina and Amie Thomas and husband Nicholas of Canadian; seven grandchildren; Lauren Weimert and husband Michael, Paul Cox and wife Emily, Sarah Purcell and husband Skip, Sterling Thomas, Stella Thomas, Scarlett Thomas and Sloan Thomas; and four great grandchildren; Thomas Weimert, Hampton Purcell, Henley Purcell and Jack Weimert.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Kenneth Morris, Hollis Morris and Johnny Morris.
