Brenda Jeanne Farquer, 76, of Canadian, passed away on February 7, 2023 in Canadian.

Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, February 10, 2023 at Canadian Church of Christ with Jake Perkins and Barry Hobson officiating.  Burial will follow in Edith Ford Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian. 

Brenda was born November 29, 1946 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Allie and Dollie Mitchell. She attended Perryton High School and became a full-time resident in Canadian in 1971. When she moved to Canadian, she began working at Canadian Mill Works for several years. It was there where she met Richard Farquer, and they married in 1974 in Canadian.  Brenda later went to work for Canadian Independent School District for over 10 years. After her time at the school, Brenda worked a department manager at ALCO before retiring. She was a longtime member of Canadian Church of Christ, and the Democratic Party. 

Brenda was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. She was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Brenda was known as “Gaddo” and “Granny” to her grandchildren she loved each one so much. She collected every item, big or small, that was given to her from her grandchildren in a special cabinet that she cherished. Brenda was also a wonderful poet and writer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Peggy Mitchell; three grandchildren, Kami Minick, B.J. Minick, and Billy Wayne.

Survivors include her husband, Richard of the home; two daughters, Karen Voorhees and husband Barry of Canadian and Rikki Farquer of Amarillo; two sons, Jerry Wayne of Canadian and Terry Wayne of Pampa; three sisters, Betty Klein and husband Curtis and Lou Marsh and husband Chuck all of Canadian, and Glenda Mitchell of Mangum, Oklahoma; two brothers, Skip Mitchell of Weatherford, Oklahoma and Rick Mitchell and wife Billie of Flora Vista, New Mexico; 7 grandchildren, Johnathan Wayne and partner James Thompson, Jason Wayne, Steven Wayne, Bruce Wayne, Daniel Wayne, Alli Wayne, and Abbi Voorhees.
