Clarence Wagner

September 28, 1946 — July 17, 2018

Clarence Wagner, 71 of Wheeler, formerly of Canadian passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in Wheeler Texas.

Services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, July 20, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Canadian.  Burial will follow in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Mr. Wagner was born September 28, 1946 in Ralston, OK to J.F. & Leona Wagner.  In his early years he was raised in eastern Oklahoma then his family moved to western Oklahoma.  The family hoed cotton and hauled hay, he loved working with his family.  On September 9, 1965 he married Mary Dungan, they continued the hay hauling business.  Mary and Clarence’s children said their parents defined love.  Before moving to Canadian in 1977 they lived in Spearman.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canadian.  In 1990 Clarence and Mary started a fourteen-year journey as a cross country truck driving team.  They once drove a semi through New York City.  He thought everyone should be nice and always had a smile on his face.  Following his grandchildren’s activities and sports, especially the supporting the Canadian Wildcats, was a delight.  His family was everything to him!

Survivors include his wife, Mary of the home; 2 daughters, Mary Frances Overturf and husband Michael of Johnston City, IL, Jeanie Cates and husband Ross of Canadian; 2 grandchildren, Jessica Cates Dickinson and husband Bo of Panhandle and Marshal Cates of Canadian; 5 brothers, John Wagner and wife Mylinda of El Reno, OK, Bob Wagner of Gore, OK, Kenneth Wagner and wife Pat of Watonga, OK, Richard Wagner and wife Nettie of Faye, OK, Gary Wagner of Shamrock; brother in law Bill Porter of Spearman; sister in law Beulah Croasmun of Moab, UT and numerous nieces and nephew.  Preceding Clarence in death were his parents, a sister, Fern Porter and a brother in law, Jerry Croasmun.

Memorials may be made to the Lone Star Angel Project and the Thomas Brown Scholarship Fund % Happy State Bank.
