Dale Litchfield, 89, of Canadian, passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2026 in Canadian.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Carmichael-Whatley Canadian Chapel with Doug Ricketts officiating. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.
Lawence Dale Litchfield was born August 26, 1936 in Higgins to Verl D. and Leila Litchfield. He graduated from Higgins High School in 1954. While in high school, he played basketball and baseball and even earned a scholarship to play baseball at West Texas State University in Canyon. Dale attended college for one year before he entered the workforce. Dale started his career with TxDot in Amarillo and then he moved to Olympia, Washington to work for the Washington State Department of Transportation. After 30 years of service, he was able to retire in 1991.
In 1998, Dale moved to Canadian to be closer to his family. Dale was able to enjoy his retirement; he bought an RV and was able to travel for many years. He also was able to play a lot of golf. Dale had a love for the Canadian Wildcats in a big way. He followed every sporting event and was known as one of Canadian’s #1 fans. Recently one of the local TV stations interviewed him about his support of the Canadian Wildcats, and he was very proud of that.
Dale was a lot of fun to be around; he seemed to always be the life of the party. In his later years, he was very organized and was a planner. Everything he did, he did with precision and it was well thought out.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; five sister, Norma Brooks, Nona Gray, Gaydean Bucher, Carole Appel, and Jony Thomas; and a brother, Don Litchfield.
Survivors include his two grandchildren, Schuyler Rosefield and Tieran Rosefield; sister, Verna Beth Morrow and husband George; sister-in-law, Dell Comstock; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family member.
Memorial can be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
