David Wayne Cleveland

David Wayne Cleveland, 80, of Canadian, Texas went to his heavenly home Tuesday, September 5, 2023 in Canadian.  

Services will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, September 9, 2023 at First Baptist Church in Canadian with Pastor Bob Bynum, pastor of Locust Grove Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in Edith Ford Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

David was born January 22, 1943 in Canadian, Texas to Wayne and Ruth Cleveland.  He grew up in Canadian and attended Canadian schools while helping on the family ranch.  In 1966, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea.  He was honorably discharged in 1970.  After the military, David returned to Canadian and started a family.  In 1978, he moved to Lubbock and engaged in farming/ranching and entrepreneurship through small business pursuits.   David moved to Lampasas in the early 2000's where he bought a ranch focused on raising cutting horses and cattle.  He returned to Canadian in 2012 and enjoyed raising cattle on the ranch he grew up on.  

David loved the Lord, his family, and his friends.  He was a very generous man who loved to help others in any way possible.  He was a lifetime member of the NRA, TSRA, AQHA and the NCHA.  He also was a longtime member of Locust Grove Baptist Church. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, flying, and serving as a NRA instructor.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include daughters, Nicole Cleveland and Kaye Beshears and husband Raymond all of Anna, TX; sons, Dave Cleveland of Wheeler and Sam Cleveland of Canadian, TX; six grandchildren: Caden Cleveland, and wife Cheyenne, Coleman Cleveland, Tanner Beshears, Hunter Beshears, Lillian Beshears and Adelyn Beshears; one great-grandchild, Charlee-Kate Cleveland; four sisters, Joyce Craft, Jean Jones and husband Frank, Mary Elliott and husband Larry all from Lubbock, and Polly Farrar and husband Rocky from Canadian; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be sent to Mesa View Senior Living 106 Teas Circle, Canadian, TX 79014.
