Davie was born on June 29, 1941, in Pampa to Samuel Whatley and Ada (Schaffer) Whatley. She was raised in Pampa and attended Pampa Public Schools. Davie graduated from Pampa High in 1959, and Pampa Modern School of Business in 1960.  Her parents were horse shoers who instilled a tremendous work ethic in all their children, taking them with them wherever they traveled.  All the siblings were taught how to shoe horses and care for animals.

Davie married James M (Jim) Hash on August 30, 1963. They lived in Perryton, Texas where Davie worked as a secretary for Whitey George until they started a family. She was a devoted wife and mother who spent countless hours volunteering her time as a 4-H leader utilizing her sewing, cooking, and horsemanship skills and educating young people.

The family moved to Canadian, Texas in 1978 where Davie continued to be very involved in her children’s daily activities. Davie was very successful in passing her work ethic to her children and was very proud of their accomplishments. She was always there providing input whether it was a rodeo, stock show, cooking or sewing competition, and always willing to teach her skills to others who wanted to learn.  Davie sold Avon products to help pay entry fees for rodeos and later kept books for the family businesses 5H Oilfield services, and Jim Hash Auctioneers. She somewhat enjoyed conversations with the IRS whenever they challenged her bookkeeping skills! Jim often bragged on her for always being at his side to help make their businesses successful by doing whatever was required. Often it was driving a truck, hauling hay, or gravel, and even running the winch truck.  She also provided elderly care after her children were raised and took excellent care of them. Davie was very proud of her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed spending time at rodeos, 4-H, FFA, and sporting events cheering them on.

Davie was proceeded in Death by her parents; sisters; DeAun Taylor, Doris Luster, and brother Sammy J Whatley.
