Jesus Rodriguez

Jesus Rodriguez, 77, of Canadian, Texas, passed from his earthly home on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in Amarillo.

Rosary service will be 6:30 pm Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Marco Gonzalez, Parochial Administrator, officiating. Burial will follow at Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Jesus Rodriguez-Alvarez was born on January 18, 1948, in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Jose and Maria Isabel Rodriguez. He was the youngest of three. In 1976, he married Enedelia Meraz, and together they built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and family. In 1985, they moved to Canadian, Texas, where Jesus worked alongside his father in the family’s boot shop.

Jesus was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he often served as an usher, lector, and gift bearer. He was known for his willingness to help whoever needed it. He also enjoyed working out at the YMCA and occasionally worked there as well. His primary career was in the oilfield, where he worked as a Derrick Hand.

Jesus found joy in everyday moments. He was often laughing, and he rarely took a car ride without singing along to the radio. He strongly valued education and believed in providing the best opportunities for his children. He was proud to raise his family in Canadian, Texas, where he believed the local school system offered a strong foundation for their future.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Maria Rodriguez; his sister, Leonor Campos Garcia; and his brother, Jose Luis Rodriguez.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Enedelia Rodriguez, and three children. His daughter, Leonor and husband Caleb Crumley of Rockport, Texas; two sons, Jesus Rodriguez Jr. of Amarillo, Texas and Antonio Rodriguez and wife Nicole of Pleasant Mount, Pennsylvania; three granddaughters, Miranda Crumley, Naomi Crumley, and Elora Rodriguez; one grandson, Theo Rodriguez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved him.
