Joshua Shane Hector

January 18, 1978 — March 17, 2022

Joshua Shane Hector, 45, of Canadian, was called home to be with The Lord on March 17, 2022, and he is now reunited with his beloved Nana and Papa.

Memorial Services will be held Friday at 2:00 pm, March 25, 2022, at The River Ministries, 221 E Main St, Canadian, with Donald Hill officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Canadian.

Joshua Shane Hector was born on January 18, 1978, in Canadian to Carla Tuckness-Evans.  Most of Josh’s life was spent in and around Canadian.  Some of his best years were spent at his Nana and Papa’s homestead on Gageby Creek in Briscoe.  Josh was such a happy boy and he was ALWAYS up to something!  He loved to play jokes on people or to scare you and make you jump.     Josh had such a big personality, and it was never quiet when he was in the room!  When he was in junior high, he played football for the Canadian Wildcats.  He adored his baby sisters Shauna and Kelsey and loved being the best big brother to them.

As an adult, Josh followed his Papa’s footsteps into the oilfield where he worked his way up from roughneck to driller.  He ended his time in the oilfield on the flow back side.  He eventually left the oilfield when it declined around 2019 and went to school in Colorado to pursue his dream of being a truck driver.  He was so proud when he earned his CDL.  He immediately started his over-the-road trucking adventure.  He absolutely loved seeing the country and often shared photos and videos of his travels with his family back home.  During one of his trips, he acquired his beloved dog Gracie May, who became his constant companion. In July of 2018, Josh became an uncle when his baby sis, Kelsey, gave birth to Greylon.  Greylon had a very special bond with his Uncle Josh and Josh adored his nephew and eventually his niece Kynlee who was born in November of 2020.

Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents Carl and Fay Tuckness, his cousin Ferlin Otis and his uncle Malcolm Hefley.

He is survived by his mother, Carla Tuckness-Evans of Canadian; 2 sisters, Shauna and husband Nathan Riley of Flower Mound, Kelsey and husband Brandon Anthony, their children Greylon and Kynlee of Krum; 3 aunts, Cathy and husband Freddie Otis of Alex, Oklahoma, Debby Hefley of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Lisa and husband Bill Hefley of Briscoe; cousins, Shayla Sanders of Chickasha, Oklahoma, Holly and husband Jimmy Hamilton, their daughter Olivia of Yukon, Oklahoma, Felicia and husband Chris Taylor, their children Tripp and Drey of Pocasset, Oklahoma, Fallon Otis of Alex, Oklahoma, Russell and wife Shyanne Hefley of Amarillo, Sanja, Chaley and Dessa Hext of Canadian, and his lifelong friend Donnie Bell and family.

Josh will be missed by so many. Anyone who knew him will remember his kind heart, loud laughter, big bear hugs, compassion, and willingness to help anyone. Whether young or old, he never met a stranger. Josh was also a lifelong animal lover and owned several great dogs throughout his life. His absolute favorite hobby was fishing. Josh had a strong faith in the Lord and would always leave you with a “God bless you.”

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Rachel’s Little House, PO Box 961, Canadian, TX 79014 or your favorite charity.
